Would you take a dream job if it meant a large pay cut?
About 40% less?

Was offered a job this morning with this company,

https://www.everymanracing.co.uk/

During the interview the bloke said ‘we put you on a course and on Event days you do the instruction’

Teaching joe public to rag a Ferrari around a race track plus you get a go yourself.

Only problem is the wages -£100 a day ,

Decisions decisions .

Have been weighing this up.... work here is pretty fucking deplorable at the mo... lot of shit and it's not getting any better.. and won't get any better... so do I stick around for teh next 4 or 5 years (when my job goes) or do I save my sanity and get out and do something that will keep me from a life sentence... want to work with animals... but know I'm not gonna get anywhere near the dosh I currently earn... only good thing is I got my mortgage down to £160per month so pressure is off... seriously weighing it all up

Joe. Visualise yourself doing this in two years. Still super exciting? Do it. How can you not get up in the morning loving your day ahead. Only a cunt would do that.

Re: Would you take a dream job if it meant a large pay cut?
It depends on whether you can afford to or not. And only you know that.

Do it mate. Life is FAR too short.

The money don't matter, if you have enough and you love what you do, well, that's gotta be the aim.

Great job btw, enjoy it, love it and you will always know you made the right decision.

Subsidise this income with a bit of Uber work when it's quiet, or at lunch. You'll get at least four stars if you turn up in a supercar.

As long as I can afford my mortgage and alcohol, that does me.

Not yet seen a vacancy to be Jennifer Lawrence's lotion rubber on'er though!!

If you can afford it why wouldn't you?

I think you need to dream a bit bigger though.

SPLATTING people in a Ferrari's got to be more fun than SPLATTING them in a lorry, surely?

They'll go flying through the air rather than just disappearing under the wheels...

I know there is no job security these days but this one doesn’t sound like it’s going to run for that long

Who cares? Enjoy it while it lasts and if worst comes to the worst get another HGV job after?

Enjoy your life. I've earned good money most of my life and had nice things which appeal for a few minutes but the stress and misery of it lasts a lifetime.

Re: Would you take a dream job if it meant a large pay cut?
Racing powerful shit around a track (even on a track-day) is THE greatest buzz you can get in life.

If my life suddenly flashed before me about half would be me cold, shaking, feeling slightly sick, exhausted, frightened, battered, hyper-excited and laughing so hard into my crash helmet that I have to open it because I've fogged the visor up.

and THEY are going to pay YOU to do it?

Whenever we've spoken in the past you've always come across as someone who enjoys driving artics which probably means the feeling is reciprocated at the company you work for. You could always try to leave in such a way that you could go back if things go tits-up at track-days?

As an aside, I've never met a single person who has been instructed round a track who hasn't thought the instructor was a total cunt. Ha ha!

An old girlfriend of mine won me a day with Yamaha UK where I was given instruction by a northern racer who was the current UK 250cc champion. He followed me around Donnington Park for two laps then gestured angrily for me to pit.

In the pits he started shouting 'wha' the fook do ya think you're doin' you fookin' idiot..' and I tried to clump him but got dragged away by a couple of mechanics.

Not my finest hour but we made it up over lunch and he turned out to be alright. He just didn't want me to cartwheel a Yamaha race bike into a fence. Fair enough really.

Re: Would you take a dream job if it meant a large pay cut?
Joe

You will soon get bored of the cunts turning up to thrash the cars and unable to find a gear let alone drive the fuckers

No worries though, get Everyman to train you on Plus 11 draw bar TP's whilst you are at it, 6 moths of that and if it all goes Pete you will walk into covered Euro TP role anywhere, at far higher payline than running standard rigs, with less grief
